چکیده
The proposed study was carried out to develop a fast and efficient strategy for plastic waste sensor-based sorting in recycling plants, based on hyperspectral imaging (HSI), combined with variable selection methods, produce high-quality recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) flakes stream. Variable techniques were applied order identify limited number of spectral bands useful recognize the presence other materials, considered as contaminant, inside stream PET flakes, reducing processing time requested by online applications. Post-consumer samples acquired HSI device working short-wave infrared (SWIR) range (1000 - 2500 nm). As first step, hypercubes processed applying chemometric logics build partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLSDA) classification model using full investigated range, able contaminant classes. second two different methods then applied, i.e., interval PLSDA (I-PLSDA) importance projection (VIP) scores, classes evaluate best method, showing efficiency values close those obtained spectrum model. result achieved VIP score method an average value 0.98. results suggested that variables can represent powerful approach sorting-online, decreasing amount data be thus enabling faster recognition compared

Comparison of Unsupervised Band Selection Methods for Hyperspectral Imaging
Different methods have been proposed in order to deal with the huge amount of information that hyperspectral applications involve. This paper presents a comparison of some of the methods proposed for band selection. A relevant and recent set of methods have been selected that cover the main tendencies in this field. Moreover, a variant of an existing method is also introduced in this work. The ...

The proper design of a product life cycle may contribute both to the optimization of primary raw material usage and to the reduction of waste environmental impacts. Recycling may enter the life cycle of products in the contexts of production of secondary raw materials and reduction of waste extensive disposal in landfills. Tradition plants for plastic separation in homogeneous products employ m...
متن کاملGLOBAL WASTE MANAGEMENT SYMPOSIUM 2016 Impacts of a Change from Dual Stream to Single Stream Recycling
Typically, a switch to single stream recycling is often accompanied by other programmatic or collection process changes such as adding more recyclable materials, moving to Pay-As-YouThrow, or automating collection. Here, all aspects of the Town waste program remained the same except for the mode of recyclables collection (although the definition of recyclable plastic containers was expanded fro...
متن کاملSpectral Quality Metrics for VNIR and SWIR Hyperspectral Imagery
Current image quality approaches are designed to assess the utility of single band images by trained image analysts. While analysts today are certainly involved in the exploitation of spectral imagery, automated tools are generally used as aids in the analysis and offer hope in the future of significantly reducing the timeline and analysis load. Thus, there is a recognized need for spectral ima...
